This is controlled by the device's current license and can be checked in the settings.

1. If you have QuickOPC installed on Windows Vista or Windows 7, License Manager may need to be run as an administrator.

2. Close License Manager completely.

3. Right-click the program and select Run as administrator.

4. Then try installing the license again.

Tip: Permission issues in older Windows environments are a common cause when license installation fails.

Good to keep in mind: Troubleshoot step by step and preferably change only one parameter at a time, so it becomes clear whether the issue lies with power, addressing, timeout, license, or cabling.

Start by checking server details, file format, and transfer method.

1. Launch Explorer and import the Browse template as the starting point for the connection.

2. Point the template to the correct gateway or IP and update the browse tree so that objects and tags are loaded.

3. Add the meters or data points you want to monitor.

4. Start monitor mode and verify that both Value and Quality are updating.

5. The goal is for Quality to be Good; if not, check the IP, port, export file, and that the gateway is actually delivering data.

Good to keep in mind: Always verify the receiving server, file format, timing, and log output after a test run before putting the export into live operation.

Deactivate the license on the old server with Deactivate this workstation and then activate the new server with the License ID and activation key.

2. From version 2.5 onwards, the transfer is easier: on the old computer, go to Tools → License and select Deactivate this workstation.

The OPC server does not poll or store values itself; this is controlled by your OPC DA client. With PiiGAB 810 or 820, each query must go all the way out on the bus to the meter. In PiiGAB 900, there is background polling, which allows responses to be quickly retrieved from the cache.
